HammurabiThe profession of a Notary Public dates back thousands of years. Notaries were originally scribes and laid down the Codex Hammurabi which is the oldest evidence of recorded law. Notaries have been practising in BC since the 19th century and are governed by the Notary Act. The profession is known for its trustworthiness and is sanctioned under the law to provide non-contentious legal services to the general public.

A Notary Public offers legal services in the following areas:

* Real Property which includes real estate transfers, mortgage document preparation, subdivisions of land, builder’s liens, easements, rights of way, restrictive covenants and zoning applications

* Wills and Estate Documents such Testamentary Wills and Representation Agreements

* Powers of Attorneys; both general and specific

* Notarization of documents including Statutory Declarations, Affidavits, Certified True Copies, PR Card and Passport documents, Sponsorship and Travel Letters
